Fire Department- Services Provided

The Grinnell Fire Department is a very pro-active department. We conduct several training classes throughout the year to interested community groups as well as local businesses and industries. We also present fire-safety programs to various community groups, to include:

Portable fire extinguisher use
Fire safety in the workplace
Single family residence, apartment and/or condominium fire safety
School visits to explain fire safety
Emergency first aid classes
Tornado and storm-related emergencies and what actions to take
Demonstrations of the department's equipment to interested groups
Stop, Drop and Roll in the elementary schools
Juvenile Firesetter Program
Smoke alarm installation & maintenance program
Sparky's Hunt for Home Hazards Program

Members of the fire department hold two fundraisers each year. In April, the department has an annual Firefighter's Ball. In October, they hold their Annual Fire Prevention Breakfast which features sausage, eggs and pancakes. This event is open to the public and a donation to the department is accepted. Donations received through these fundraisers are used to purchase and maintain life-saving equipment.
